To me it seems they are more focusing about how division is very dangerous which has of course been in the spotlight the past few years. I do understand that some band member’s “recent social media posts” point too a few of their beliefs this song could be about… but I also think they’re mature enough to write a song that isn’t coming from one specific point of view and could apply to anyone.
Obviously lyrics are always subjective but I also think it’s wrong to immediately assume everything is about politics and is coming from any “side.” I mean personally I could see these lyrics applying to quite literally anything people disagree on.
